The Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg (PMU), a university for health sciences in Salzburg, invites for applications for two positions:
- Professor in Nursing Science and Advanced Nursing Practice (ID number 1)
- Professor in Nursing Science and Cross-Sectoral Care (ID number 2)
to be filled for the duration of five years by the earliest possible starting date.
These are full-time professorship positions to be filled with highly qualified senior researchers with strong research skills, the capability to represent and enhance scientific, didactic, and clinical areas in nursing science and with a special focus on the development of Advanced Nursing Practice (ID number 1) OR cross-sectoral care (ID number 2) within the context of various participating healthcare professions.
Suitable candidates should be equipped with a professional and scientific background in nursing science and possess an expertise in theoretical, methodological, and clinical research and teaching. Applicants’ track records for international networking and scientific collaborations will receive special consideration.
Experiences in the successful application for and implementation/ management of competitive research grants and its budgets as well as collaboration with third-party funded research projects, are expected. In addition, extensive experiences in advising and supervising undergraduate and graduate master theses and doctoral dissertations in nursing science are assumed.
A focus on interprofessional interfaces for healthcare research is more than welcome. The willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with other faculties and subject areas as part of the wider PMU community is required. Qualifications, such as leadership skills, role model functions, networking offers as well as social skills, are expected.
Qualifications
Either position requires a Bachelor’s in Nursing and a Ph.D. in Nursing Science with an excellent publication record in addition to inter-/national conference contributions (e.g. keynotes, plenaries, congress invitations to present orally and in writing, such as posters, etc.). The ideal applicants will have teaching and research experience as well as solid clinical experience in nursing practice.
Applicants, whose native language is other than German and who do not hold the equivalent of a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree from an institution at which German is the language of instruction, are required to learn German with the goal of teaching classes in German as well as in English, within two years of employment.

The position aligns with the Austrian Employee Law from May 11th, 1921, i.d.g.F. Due to these regulations (§ 9 Abs. 2 GlBG) the university offers a minimum wage of € 6.150,- (gross salary, 14 times/year) as well as a willingness to pay more depending on the qualifications of the applicant.
